Coinciding with Scottish Housing Day 2017, partnership housing provider Lovell and Link Group have officially launched Mollins Gate, a brand new 55-home mixed tenure development on a previously disused site in Moodiesburn near Glasgow.

Local ward councillors for Moodiesburn Willie Doolan, Greg Lennon and Michael McPake were joined by North Lanarkshire Council enterprise and housing committee convener, Allan Graham, for an exclusive tour of the £6 million development and an opportunity to meet some of the new residents.

Lovell originally began work on the development in March 2016. The development comprises 17 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes for social rent and 15 two-bedroom flats for shared equity sale by Link alongside 23 modern two- and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached homes for private sale, all of which were pre-sold by Lovell in June of this year.

Commenting on his visit to Mollins Gate, Cllr Allan Graham said: “My fellow councillors and I have been very impressed by our tour of the Mollins Gate development and pleased to meet some of the residents, who seem to have settled into their new homes very happily already.

“As part of our NL Homes programme, North Lanarkshire Council remains committed to playing its full part in delivering many more new affordable homes that are needed locally to meet demand. This is an important contribution to that effort and working together with our partners we can improve the lives of local people.”

Link Group chief executive, Craig Sanderson, said: “We are very happy to launch Mollins Gate with the active support of all of our local ward councillors and the Council’s new housing convener, Cllr Graham. It’s particularly gratifying to be able to offer a mix of different tenures on the same site. This will help to create a local community that is sustainable for the long term.”

Stephen Profili, regional managing director for Lovell in Scotland, added: “A key aim of Scottish Housing Day is to give the public more information about the different housing options potentially open to them. This development is a great illustration of this, offering as it does homes for social rent, for shared equity sale and for private sale, all as part of the same development. It’s been a pleasure to work in close partnership with Link Group to deliver much needed new housing to North Lanarkshire.”
