Argyll Community Housing Association’s (ACHA) 350th new home was officially opened on Islay by BBC Scotland personality Glenn Campbell.

The new build housing for rent is part of a 20 homes project being built by ACHA on the outskirts of Bowmore. The development has a contract value of £3.4 million and is a three way funding partnership between ACHA, Argyll and Bute Council and the Scottish Government.

The new homes were built by MacLeod Construction of Lochgilphead and employed 30 tradesmen. The housing mix ranges from one to four bedroom homes.

Alastair MacGregor, ACHA’s chief executive, said: “This is a proud day for ACHA to be able to open our 350th new build home on Islay.

“We are proud to play our part with our partners in building Islay’s future with homes for the Island’s people.”

Glenn Campbell added: “It is an honour to be back in my home village to hand over the keys to the first residents of this new development.

“Moving in to a new place is an exciting moment and I wish all those making Sealladh Loch na Dala their home the very best for the future.”
