Bellsmyre Housing Association welcomes low Regulator engagement

Bellsmyre Housing Association’s regulatory engagement had been reduced from “medium” to “low”, the Scottish Housing Regulator has announced.

The Regulator has been engaged with Bellsmyre Housing Association since 2012 as the Association focused on improving performance and the quality of services.

In April 2016, Bellsmyre entered into a constitutional partnership with Caledonia Housing Association, a key aim of which was to increase investment, protect rent levels, improve services and strengthen governance.

Diane Williamson, chair of Bellsmyre Housing Association, said the recognition by the Scottish Housing Regulator of reducing its engagement level from medium to low reflects the progress Bellsmyre have made with improvements in organisational performance with the association delivering improved results for tenants and service users.

Ms Williamson added: “This is a positive and important milestone for Bellsmyre Housing Association. I am pleased that our improvement in the past couple of years has been recognised. We still have a lot change we are committed to realising, but this decision reflects the progress we are making.

“We plan to build on our recent improvements by working with our partners, Caledonia Housing Association, West Dunbartonshire Council and the Scottish Government to bring new affordable homes to the Bellsmyre neighbourhood. I am confident that Bellsmyre Housing Association has an exciting and promising future.”
