Big-hearted River Clyde Homes staff raise £1,700 for charities

River Clyde Homes staff have handed over donations of food and a cheque to the Inverclyde Foodbank, one of the four charities they chose to support with fundraising efforts over the last year.

Ardgowan Hospice, Alzheimer Scotland and the British Heart Foundation will also each receive a cheque for £435 from money collected from ‘dress down’ days and other charities events, whilst the donation to the local foodbank was further boosted by £130 from supplier Rexel UK as part of the community benefits clause of their contract.

“Every year staff choose a handful of charities to support through donations and in-house charity events”, explains Maureen Gimby, head of corporate services at River Clyde Homes. “It is great to see a range of local and national charities supported and I would like to applaud the generosity of colleagues who have volunteered their own time and money to support these great causes.”

The fundraising by staff and donations from suppliers comes on top of the direct action undertaken by River Clyde Homes as an organisation, which includes a commitment to allow all staff to take two days per year to work on community projects in the Inverclyde area as part of the Working in Neighbourhoods (WIN) programme.

Community based charities, schools, social enterprises and voluntary groups which benefit the people of Inverclyde can all request support from the WIN programme.
