Cairn scoops Developing Skills and Capacity Excellence Award

Cairn is celebrating after taking home the Developing Skills and Capacity award from the prestigious Chartered Institute of Housing Excellence Awards.

Cairn’s team was recognised for introducing a practical leadership and management programme around the ‘Great Leaders’ and ‘4 Disciplines of Execution’ methodology developed by Franklin Covey. Cairn’s leadership team worked together to redefine the true purpose of the organisation, to focus absolutely on their ‘Wildly Important Goals’ and to welcome and act upon personal feedback from teams on the performance of leaders.

The ‘4 Disciplines of Execution’ programme required Cairn to collectively agree on the one thing which, if effectively delivered, would make a significant and tangible difference to their success as an organisation. After identifying void turnaround as the ‘Wildly Important Goal’ a team was formed to focus on reducing days to let from 52 to 14 calendar days by March 31st 2016.

Since September 2014 Cairn has seen a remarkable transformation resulting in a level of collective drive and enthusiasm which has defied a geographical spread which covers 32 local authority areas in Scotland and succeeded in achieving the wildly important goal target 7 months ahead of schedule.

Jason MacGilp, chief executive, said: “The whole team is delighted to receive this Excellence Award. It is recognition of the investment in management development across the organisation, which is helping drive a values based culture and tangible results in improved service standards and business improvement. The award is a welcome milestone towards achieving Cairn’s vision of ‘Great homes. Great services. Great people.’”
