Cairn Housing Association has announced the passing of Caroline MacAskill.

Jason MacGilp, chief executive of Cairn, said: “We are very sad to confirm that our friend and valued colleague, Caroline MacAskill, passed away on 1 October from injuries sustained in a horse riding accident.

“Caroline was our Head of Customer Services and will be known to many housing colleagues and partner organisations throughout Scotland, particularly in Highland where she served much of her career.

“Caroline worked at Cairn for two terms and, after a management role at The Highland Council, returned to Cairn in 2008 in her senior role.

“Caroline worked in the housing sector for over 20 years and was a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

“She was always an enthusiastic and skilled member of the team, and her passion for life and for delivering quality services for tenants always shone through in her work. She cared about people and the communities she worked for.

“Caroline was a great leader of her teams and a valued and trusted colleague. Her expertise in the welfare benefits system was invaluable in working in partnership with The Highland Council and the DWP in the roll-out of changes with Universal Credit, and she always sought to protect the interests of tenants.

“Caroline helped so many people through her working life and further afield over the years, and she will be very sorely missed by us all.”

Caroline’s funeral is on Tuesday 11 October at 1pm at Fraser’s Funeral Home, Chapel Street, Inverness.

Scottish Housing News would like to pass its condolences to Caroline’s family, friends and colleagues.
