Dennistoun apartments application refused
Glasgow City Council has rejected plans to build 46 flats on a vacant site in Dennistoun.
Developers Stanton Brook Estates submitted plans to build the apartments between Birkenshaw Street and Cumbernauld Road.
Glasgow City Council officials said that the density and scale of the block of flats, combined with lack of open space, would result in overdevelopment of the site.
Officials also voiced concerns about a lack of open space and car parking facilities and also said that the proposed flat roof was not in keeping with the surrounding properties, ReGlasgow reports.
Stanton Brook Estates failed to provide an energy statement and the proposals did not include adequate compensation for the loss of habitats which would be caused by the development.
A council report stated: “No attempt has been made to establish character and a varied sense of place.”
