Developer unveils 150-home Aberdeen plan for first Scottish project
One of the UK’s largest property developers has targeted Aberdeen for the site of its first project in Scotland with new plans for up to 150 new homes.
Comer Group UK has notified Aberdeen City Council of its plans to “deliver a mix of high-quality family homes and associated facilities” on a site at Leggart Brae.
Located just south of the B9077 Bridge of Dee to Maryculter road, and to the west of the A92 Aberdeen to Stonehaven road just before it reaches the southern side of the River Dee, the site was identified in the latest local development plan (LDP) for the future development of up to 150 homes as part of the “Royal Devenick Park” area.
Brian Comer, the chairman of Comer Group UK, told the Press & Journal: “We welcomed the allocation of Leggart Brae in the proposed LDP 2022.
“Not only does it represent our first investment in Scotland, but it presents a great opportunity for a sympathetic extension of the city – one that would see a mix of new homes and associated facilities carefully developed on the gateway to the Granite City.”
Due to the restrictions required by the pandemic, the group will be hosting an online consultation, further details of which, will be revealed at a later date.
Mr Comer added: “It has been very important to me from the outset to ensure that due consideration be given not only to the characteristics of the site and its settings, but importantly the comments raised by all stakeholders.
“All of these, along with detailed environmental and technical assessments, will help inform the vision for Leggart Brae.
“We strongly believe public consultation and engagement are vitally important elements of the planning process, and we will therefore ensure all exhibition material is available to view and, importantly, comment on, on our dedicated project website.”
