Wellhouse Housing Association has announced that Easthall Residents Association will be taking over the delivery of local community services in the area.

East End Flat Packs in WHA Community Cafe

The highly regarded community group will deliver a range of initiatives including training, classes, activities and services for local residents in line with Government guidance regarding COVID-19.

One of the first initiatives is establishing is a Community Café which will be operated by award-winning local voluntary group, East End Flat Pack Meals.

The Community Café will provide healthy, nutritious meals at low cost as well as creating a community space where local residents can access fine cuisine, fresh homemade soups and other healthy options. There will also be opportunities for local residents to volunteer and to get involved with the initiative.

Easthall Residents Association is highly regarded and has been recognised with a Gold Investor in Young People award as well as other accolades including the Evening Times – Glasgow Community Champions overall team award in 2015 as well as being finalists in 2016 and 2017.

Darron Brown, chair of Wellhouse Housing Association, said: “I am very pleased to be announcing a new era in the delivery of Wellhouse Community Services.

“We will be working with a well-established, local, not-for-profit organisation who are committed to helping us make Wellhouse the ‘Place to Be’.”

Andy Gilbert, project co-ordinator of Easthall Residents Association, added: “It is great to have this opportunity to work with Wellhouse Housing Association and to continue and to further develop the work that has been carried out.

“We are committed to delivering a range of service with established staff ensuring continuity so familiar faces will be working with the children and young people.”

Margaret Finnigan, chair of Easthall Residents Association, commented: “We are delighted to extend our services into our neighbouring Wellhouse community and to be partnering with Wellhouse Housing Association and we look forward to working with the children, young people and alongside the wider community of Wellhouse staying true to our commitment of Putting People First.”
