‘Epic’ project to help Glasgow residents manage their money

EPIC 360A new service has been launched to help people throughout Glasgow improve their financial skills.

Funded by a £1 million grant from the Big Lottery for three years, Epic 360 comes at a time when many people are under increasing financial pressures as a result of welfare reform and the recent introduction of Universal Credit in Glasgow last month.

Lead partner ng homes will manage the Glasgow Big Partnership for Welfare project which aims to benefit Glasgow residents who are experiencing financial exclusion and difficulties.

Delivered in partnership with Greater Easterhouse Money Advice Project (GEMAP), Southside Housing Association, Wheatley Group, Queens Cross Housing Association, Glasgow West of Scotland Forum and Glasgow City Council, the project aims to reach over 3,000 people throughout the city.

A recent taster and information sessions attended by approximately 300 colleagues and staff from partner organisations was delivered to give awareness of the new service.

Epic 360 has six financial capability officers throughout the city, who will meet people in local venues between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Conversations will take place around managing money, planning ahead, making choices and getting support.

Information about opening a bank account, budgeting, borrowing & savings, welfare reform & Universal Credit, income & spending, debt & wellbeing are some of the topics to be discussed. The officer will then help people to create their own personal financial plan and improve financial skills and knowledge.

People can self refer at www.epic360.co.uk or ask for any other organisation you might be dealing with to make the referral on your behalf. Our services are free, confidential and person centred. If you would like to talk to us in confidence, please contact Niall or Susan on 0141 630 4324/25.
