Everyone’s a winner at Partick Sports Day

Partick Sports DayAs part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations, Partick Housing Association (PHA) sponsored a schools sports athletics festival for children from local Thornwood and Notre Dame Primary Schools.

The event was organised by Sports Scotland Active Schools Glasgow.

Around 120 children took part in a series of athletics activities; javelin, long jump, shot putt and a fun run - and they were all delighted to receive a medal for their efforts. The javelin throwing skills of PHA staff were called upon as they were responsible for coordinating that particular activity. The event is part of an ongoing programme by PHA to support sports activities at local schools.

Active schools co-ordinator, Mark O’Mara, said: “Thanks for PHA’s continued support of school sports in the local area. The children are so enthusiastic and get great enjoyment out of these events. The medals went down really well and a special big thanks to staff who came along to help and jumped in at the deep end with the javelins.”
