Faifley appoints Caledonia Housing Association as preferred transfer partner
Following a detailed selection process, Faifley Housing Association has appointed Caledonia Housing Association (CHA) as the preferred transfer partner.
Faifley, based in West Dunbartonshire, conducted a review of its operations. Following this review and an options appraisal, the management committee agreed to look for a suitable housing association to undertake a transfer of engagements.
As part of the transfer, Faifley set out several priorities which tenants had identified as important, including keeping rents affordable, investing in homes and the environment as well as modernising the service.
Both housing associations will now start work on a joint business case to be presented to tenants as part of the formal consultation process.
Alan Nairn, chair of Caledonia Housing Association, said: “I am delighted that we have been selected as the preferred partner by Faifley.
“We are very focussed on the individual communities we serve, and we have found that the process needs to be tenant-led. We look forward to working with the Faifley team to build a business plan around the needs of the tenants and the community.”
Jackie Lorimer, Faifley chairperson, added: “Accepting Caledonia Housing Association as the preferred transfer partner is the first step on the journey for a better future for our tenants. We want to provide good quality homes at an affordable rent and be able to maintain them and support the demands and varied needs of our community. We can do this if we work with Caledonia.
“This is just the beginning of the process and we will be consulting tenants and advisors at every step of the way, and our tenants will have the final say.”
The Tenants Information Service has been appointed to help answer tenant questions.
Key staff will be given responsibility to organise a programme of tenant consultation with the aim of moving to a formal ballot in 2022.
