Final plans submitted for 41 Dundee homes

Detailed plans have been submitted to Dundee City Council for a development which would see 41 homes built next to a primary school in Claverhouse.

Ogilvie Homes wants to deliver a mixture of three-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses, as well as four-bedroom detached properties, to the east of Barns of Claverhouse Road.

The site is encompassed by homes on John Grahame Avenue, Atholl Glen Yard and Silver Button Yard to the south, Mill o’ Mains Primary School to the north and Claverhouse Industrial Estate to the east.

The firm had originally planned to build townhouses on the site but said following consultation with the local authority at a pre-application meeting that a more interesting “street-scape” could be created. Three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses are now planned for the site.

In a design statement, Ogilvie Homes said: “We were particularly keen to retain the communal square to the lower portion of the site and the village green to the upper portion of the site.

“We feel these areas will provide a positive open outlook for the majority of the houses and will also provide fully usable areas of open space for both residents and the public alike.

“The proposed development of this site has evolved following our pre-application meeting with Dundee City Council in March 2017 and we have continually refined our proposals thereafter to utilise the advice and suggestions obtained.

“We have also worked closely to the guidance contained…in the local development plan to ensure compliance has been achieved through the design process.”

A similar development to build 35 homes on the nearby site of a former office block was approved by the council in 2015.

The proposals will likely go before the council’s planning committee for consideration this year.
