Glasgow landlords to receive training on dispute management
SafeDeposits Scotland is hosting workshops in Glasgow to provide dispute management training to the city’s landlords.
In the last year, 543 disputes have arisen between landlords and tenants in the Glasgow postcode area according to the latest research from SafeDeposits Scotland.
The deposit protection provider found that the average amount that tenants and landlords in Glasgow disagreed over deductions to the deposit at the end of a tenancy was £370.23 and that disputes in the city accounted for more than a quarter (26%) of all tenancy disputes in Scotland.
The most common reason for the tenancy deposit disputes was attributed to damage, which was cited in 25% of cases within the G postcodes.
Now landlords in Glasgow can sign-up for free industry-leading training into managing tenancy deposits and disputes.
Part of SafeDeposits’ programme of workshops touring the country, the course will be held at The Lighthouse at 11 Mitchell Lane over two days, on 29 and 30 October, from 2pm to 4pm.
The workshop will be aimed at those who have not received previous training on adjudications and will include the use of real case studies of adjudication cases SafeDeposits Scotland has dealt with.
In addition, information on how an adjudicator comes to a decision regarding the amount they decide to award will be provided.

These courses will help landlords and agents in Glasgow better understand the principles of adjudication and in turn, help them to protect their investments.”
