CALA Homes (West) has secured detailed approval for the first phase of a wide-ranging new housing development in Jackton.

Planning permission was obtained this week from South Lanarkshire Council for the development of 173 homes – part of a major investment by CALA in the East Kilbride Community Growth Area (CGA).

The first phase of property construction – which the homebuilder plans to commence in June – will be sited south-east of Eaglesham Road.

It will deliver properties ranging from one and two-bedroom apartments to a variety of homes of up to five bedrooms, including terraced, detached and semi-detached villas.

All homes will feature a renewable energy solution such as either PV panels or hybrid air source heat pumps.

Wider proposals include the delivery of integrated foot and cycle pathways that will support healthy living, while also helping to create a strong sense of community.

Initial works are underway on the construction of the first phase of a spine road – located at the junction of Eaglesham Road– that will serve the whole site, eventually connecting through to Lindsayfield.

The first phase of new CALA homes is part of CGA plans for the delivery of approximately 1,950 homes from a consortium which also includes Lynch Homes and Abbey Developments.

The consortium will deliver five play areas, well-designed green space and small-scale retail outlets. A new primary school developed and funded by South Lanarkshire Council is also included in the extensive masterplan.

The major development will support the delivery of an expected 250 affordable homes, as local demand for housing continues to rise.

“We plan to create an attractive neighbourhood with a distinct identity and well-designed spaces that will reflect our desire to maximise connectivity while enhancing landscape features that are equipped for people to live, work and play.

“We believe this first phase of housing will set a high standard for the next to follow, eventually realising approximately 400 new CALA homes for Jackton.”

CALA said it continues to closely engage with local councillors, residents and businesses regarding works to ensure key stakeholders and those affected are kept informed of progress.
