Homes plan for former Fraserburgh petrol station approved

NORR FraserburghAberdeenshire Council has approved proposals to convert a derelict petrol station in Fraserburgh into 35 new homes.

Grampian Housing Association unveiled proposals last year to demolish the remnants of the petrol station on Cross Street and build new affordable homes to help ease the council’s housing waiting list.

Also located within a Conservation Area, the mix of one and two bed flats have been designed by architects NORR.

A spokesman for NORR added: “We are delighted to have obtained planning consent for a residential development in the Fraserburgh Town Centre Regeneration area.”

NORR Fraserburgh 2In granting planning permission, Robert Gray, Aberdeenshire Council’s head of planning, said: “The proposed development accords with the development plan and there are no material considerations which indicate that permission should be refused.”

The planning department has put several conditions on the permission which must be met before construction can begin.

These include carrying out archaeological and contamination surveys, in addition to creating safe vehicle access onto the site and making space for refuse bins.

Work is due to start on site in the Autumn.
