Staff from housing associations across Scotland gathered at the Hillcrest Group’s HQ in Dundee last week to discuss the best approaches for tackling anti-social behaviour.

The event, delivered by Hillcrest Housing Association, Dundee City Council and Police Scotland, gave attendees the opportunity to share good working practice on issues including noise, drug dealing complaints, working with young people and supporting those involved.

Hillcrest Housing Association’s assistant housing manager, Louise Butchart, said: “Anti-social behaviour is something Hillcrest and the housing industry as a whole takes extremely seriously.

“Our role goes beyond the provision of affordable housing and it is vital we work with our partners across the community to develop our skills and ensure our services evolve to meet our tenants’ needs.

“While the main purpose of the day was to consider how we best tackle anti-social behaviour, how we support tenants and help them to overcome any challenges also emerged as a key area for discussion and development.”

In addition to sharing current practice, the attending housing professionals received presentations from Police Scotland’s Dundee LPA Community Safety Division, Dundee City Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team and Social Work, Integrated Substance Misuse Service Team.
