A committed Bield care home worker is hosting two Christmas dinners, one for family and one for care home residents to ensure no one misses out on celebrating the special day.

Freida Biddle, along with three other staff members at Thornton Gardens, has chosen to work on Christmas Day so that residents at the Care Home in Bonnybridge do not feel isolated from the celebrations.

Freida, who has been working at Bield for 12 years, said: “I love working on Christmas Day, there is always such a fantastic atmosphere and at the end of the day I think it’s really what it’s all about at this time of year.

“In the morning, staff will help get the residents into their finest clothes, we also have carol signing and Christmas drinks in the lounge.

“Santa will then hand out gifts and we sit down for Christmas dinner. It is always a brilliant day for everyone involved.”

The care assistant will be hosting Christmas dinner for the 13 residents, as well as Christmas drinks and nibbles for their families before heading home to cook dinner for eight members of her own family.

Freida added: “If anything it makes my day more special being able to host Christmas dinners at Thornton Gardens and in my own home.

“I am really looking forward to the day and I am so pleased I have the opportunity to spend it with the people I care most about – my family and the residents of Thornton Gardens.”

Kathy Crombie, communications and marketing manager at Bield, said: “Thanks to Freida, and the other members of staff at Thornton Gardens, these residents will have a fantastic Christmas.

“Freida always goes above and beyond the call of duty and the fact that she is passing up spending the whole day with her family to make sure that our residents enjoy theirs is incredibly admirable. We are all very thankful to her for her continuous commitment.”
