Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has just completed five new family homes at Victoria Park, Dunoon.

Built by Lochgilphead-based MacLeod Construction Ltd on a site transferred to the Association by Argyll and Bute Council, the homes overlook Dunoon town centre and the River Clyde.

The £811,338 development was funded from grant contribution from the Scottish Government and Argyll and Bute Council, and private finance from ACHA.

Particular features of the new homes are generous space standards, large kitchens, and utility rooms.

The official opening was carried out by Michael Russell MSP for Argyll and Bute who said: “I am delighted to have the honour of opening these houses. ACHA is working tirelessly to secure new homes for people in Argyll & Bute and the Scottish Government is supporting those ambitions in every way possible.

“Today is a great example of the benefit of practical partnership working and a concentration of what really matters in Scotland - improving the lives of people who live here.”

Alastair MacGregor, chief executive of ACHA, said: “New homes like these are vital in providing a stable foundation for families in Dunoon. The construction of these homes has also provided 25 quality jobs and training and it is a positive reflection on the joint working of ACHA, the Scottish Government and Argyll and Bute Council.

He added: “Could I thank Michael Russell for the proactive support he has given to assisting ACHA in securing housing investment into Argyll and Bute.”
