New affordable homes delivered in the heart of Partick

2017-09-21 St Peter's DevelopmentPartick Housing Association has started work on its latest project to provide much needed affordable homes in the heart of Partick, by transforming the site of the former St Peter’s Primary School.

Iain Nicolson, chair of the Association’s investment committee, said: “There is a real shortage of good quality, affordable housing in Partick. Our latest ambitious project at St Peter’s will deliver 60 new flats – this will include 31 flats for social rent, 21 flats for mid market rent, and 8 flats of supported accommodation. We expect these new flats to be completed in summer 2019 and would like to thank Glasgow City Council, the community and all of our other partners for their support.”

Glasgow City Council, from whom Partick Housing Association acquired the site, contributed over £5 million towards the £10.5m project.

To celebrate Scottish Housing Day today, colleagues from Partick Housing Association and Glasgow City Council met on site to mark the start of the project.

Councillor Kenny McLean, city convener for neighbourhoods, housing and public realm, said: “I am delighted that work has begun on this fantastic project in Partick, which will provide 60 new flats that meet the needs of a wide variety of people. The council was thrilled to work with our partners to deliver such homes in an area that is pressurised in terms of housing. This landmark building, the former St Peter’s Primary, will now serve the local community in an equally valuable new way.”
