New COVID-19 planning guidance and advice notes unveiled
The Scottish Government has issued a raft of new planning guidance and advice notes to assist with the easing of lockdown restrictions.
An advice note for building owners and operators has been issued to raise awareness of the application of building regulations, where adaptation of buildings in response to COVID-19 includes construction work or change in the use of a building.
A letter has also been issued by the chief planner and the minister for local government, housing and planning in relation to planning’s interests in the temporary use of outdoor spaces and ‘the ‘28-day rule’ during the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, a new guidance document focuses on design principles for safer urban centres and green spaces. It contains information and examples of interventions that may be undertaken by owners and operators of public spaces to keep people safe, as restrictions relax.
