There are no sprinklers in over 300 high-rise buildings managed by Scottish councils and social landlords, according to a new BBC Scotland investigation in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

High-rises built since 2005 are legally obliged to have sprinklers, but there is no obligation on councils to fit the systems in older blocks.

South Ayrshire Council was the only local authority which said it had installed sprinklers in older high-rise blocks during the refurbishment of three tower blocks in 2003.
