Perthshire law firm Macnabs and Next Home Estate Agents have raised almost £3000 for local charity Churches Action for the Homeless (CATH).

CATH supports, encourages and promotes the development and delivery of projects to relieve homelessness and poor housing in the Perth & Kinross area.

Gillian Ralph, head of the property team at Macnabs, said: “Throughout the month of February, both Macnabs and Next Home each donated £25 to CATH for every successful property offer we were involved in.

“As a local business we are dedicated to supporting our local communities and helping causes that are close to people’s hearts – it was a busy month for clients purchasing and selling properties and we are delighted to have been able to raise such an incredible amount for a very worthy charity.”

John Greener of Next Home added: “Unfortunately homelessness is a growing issue in our area, and the support of local people and businesses is vital to help organisations like CATH raise much needed funds.”

Brian Cowie, chief executive of CATH, said: “CATH was established almost 30 years ago and is a local charity supporting those who are homeless or under threat of homelessness. What started as a soup kitchen in various venues is now a day centre with drop-in facilities supporting services users with low cost meals, laundry, washing, advice, and literacy and self-development programs.

“We also operate a purpose built 8 flat-let accommodation unit in Perth, an outreach team who conduct street walks, a floating support team, a befriending service, a resettlement team and a charity shop. We are overwhelmed by the amount raised by Macnabs and Next Home and the possibilities that this creates for us to support our service users.”
