Plans submitted for new affordable homes in Leven

The planning proposal submitted to Fife Council outlines plans to knock down the existing two-storey building to make space for new homes.

All of the new homes within the development will be affordable and the development will be run and managed by Kingdom Housing Association.

Quale Homes has already obtained approval for a previous application to convert the former offices, which have not been in use since 2013, into flats.

However, this most recent application intends to demolish both Dow’s Gymnasium and the former social work offices to rebuild the new flats due to the current building being unfit for further construction work, The Courier reports.

According to the developer’s supporting statement: “A newbuild option is preferred given the new-build scheme can be designed to fully comply with the Housing Association design guidance.

“The new-build option will also extend the lifespan of the development to the benefit of the area and the community.”

The apartments proposed are all two-bedroom four-person homes with design variations applying throughout the site to suit the positioning and aspects from the properties.
