River Clyde Homes opens doors to Broomhill office

Doors Open Day PresentationRiver Clyde Homes took part in the annual Doors Open Days festival for the first time this autumn.

The Inverclyde based housing association opened a show flat in one of the Broomhill tower blocks in Greenock and hosted an exhibition of photographs by the popular Facebook-based Dark Side o’ Inverclyde project.

Over 200 people attended the weekend event. Feedback was very positive, particularly over the size and layout of the flat and the stunning view of the river from the 10th floor.

Everyone who left a comment on the event was entered into a prize draw to win a copy of their favourite Dark Side o Inverclyde print.

Lynsey Graham of Greenock was the lucky winner. She said: “I really enjoyed the chance to see inside the flat. The view was amazing and I loved the exhibition. The print will find a home in my hall.”

River Clyde Homes’ board member, Ronnie Ahlfeld, said: “This innovative project was a great success and visitor numbers exceeded our expectations, bringing over 200 people across the doorstep of a flat in Broomhill. The feedback from visitors was very positive with regards to the size and the quality of the internally refurbished flat.”

The ambitious £29 million regeneration project in Broomhill to revamp over 650 homes is one of the largest in Scotland. Once completed, the buildings and landscape will be transformed with all homes benefitting from a low cost, eco-friendly district heating system. With the scaffolding coming down on some of the low-rise blocks, the difference is clear for all to see.

A selection of the Dark Side o’ Inverclyde photographs will be shown in River Clyde Homes’ Broomhill office in January.
