The Association’s AGM, which as held in the Woodside Hotel adjacent to its offices in Doune, heard that the organisation had completed new housing at Killearn and Callander.

Further properties are being built at Doune, work will soon begin on properties at Balmaha and RSHA has obtained planning permission for 50 homes at Claish farm in Callander. Around 30 new homes are also in the pipeline at Gartness Road in Drymen. A further site has also been acquired for new homes at Lampson Road in Killearn.

Delivering her chairperson’s speech Margaret Vass OBE said the amount of housebuilding was a “huge undertaking” but one which the Association relished to deliver new homes for people who need them.

The ambitious housebuilding programme reflects RSHA’s commitment to “keep on building stronger communities”.

The meeting was told housing need in the area served by RSHA was high with 671 applications on its waiting list at the end of the previous financial year in March and reflected the demand for affordable housing.

The Association has also cut its rent arrears from 5.2% to 4.3% and reduced the time it takes to re-let properties from 14.8 days to 13.

Margaret told the meeting: “There is a general improvement across all category of repairs but there is still scope to be better. We are very keen to have all tenants much more involved in our business and particularly scrutinising performance. We have set up a customer engagement working group to bring about change in how we work with and involve our tenants.”

The AGM was Margaret’s last year as chair and while stepping down from the role will remain on the board.

She thanked the staff team and current and previous board of management members for their commitment to RSHA.

The guest speaker at the AGM was Lorna Cameron, chief officer of housing at Stirling Council, who gave an update on homelessness and Stirling Council’s Rapid Rehousing Transition Plan.
