A Dundee bridal boutique has stunned local Shelter Scotland charity bosses with a donation of £15,000 worth of designer wedding dresses.

Some of the 20 exquisite gowns from Annarose Bridal Boutique will now take centre stage at the finale of the Shelter Scotland fashion show at the Queen’s Hotel, Nethergate, Dundee on October 30.

The dresses which have never been worn by brides before will then go on sale at the fashion show and at Shelter Scotland shops.

John Sinclair Shelter Scotland shops regional manager, said: “When we were organising our fashion show we thought it would be a dream come true to be able to top it off with a wedding dress. When Annarose came back to say we could have 20 it was unbelievable.”

John Sinclair added: “The dresses are of extremely high quality and mean that some lucky brides can have a beautiful gown at a bargain price, knowing that they are helping people escape the misery of homelessness at the same time.”

Anne Elder, owner of Annarose Bridal, said: “As a bridal boutique owner I get to see people prepare for one of the happiest days of their lives. It is lovely to be able to contribute to people who face some of the toughest challenges – like not having a home at all or having one they can’t rely on.”

The Shelter Scotland fashion show takes place at the Queen’s Hotel on October 30 from 1pm until 5pm. Tickets cost £5 and are on sale in the Shelter Scotland shops in Dundee and Broughty Ferry. Tickets include a glass of Prosecco and nibbles. Local businesses Pela hairdressing, Bella gift shop and Butterflies beauty shop will all have stalls.

Carolyn Smart, a money and debt advisor at the Shelter Scotland Dundee Hub which supports people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or have other housing problems, will be modelling clothes at the fashion show alongside colleagues from the hub and the charity’s shops.
