Swan Group given green light for River Clyde apartment complex
Swan Group has been granted permission to build 151 flats beside Newhall Street in Glasgow’s East End.
In collaboration with Mast Architects, the developer will deliver the homes on a triangle of brownfield land next to the River Clyde and across from the Police Scotland Dalmarnock building.
The complex will include a mixture of one and two-bedroom apartments in five blocks, ranging from four to six floors. A total of 128 car parking spaces would also be provided. Prominent gables will be aligned with pocket parks with a landscaped central amenity area at the heart of the plan overseen by DWA landscape architects.
Phil McGinlay, managing director of Swan Group, told Scottish Housing News: “Swan Group’s Newhall development is set to revitalise an area in Glasgow’s east end which will offer residents unrivalled, safe access to the city centre. Not only will the 151 flats be positioned next to the River Clyde walkway, they are also right next to Glasgow Green offering a traffic free route through to the heart of the city.
“We look forward to delivering more high quality affordable homes for the workers and families who are integral to the future of Glasgow city.”
