Dundee City Council has improved satisfaction among council house tenants, according to the results of a recent survey.

Almost 400 council house tenants took part in the detailed survey, of whom 89 per cent said they were satisfied with the overall service provided by their landlord - up from 77 per cent in 2011.

The survey also received the views of 251 factored home owners, 59 per cent of whom said they were satisfied with the factoring service provided by the council.

John Alexander, convenor of the council’s housing committee, said: “A considerable amount of hard work has been put in by employees of the housing department at all levels to boost satisfaction with our services.

“We know we are getting it right when almost 90 per cent of the tenants we spoke to are satisfied with the overall service we provide, an increase of more than 12 per cent on the previous survey and more than two points higher than the Scottish average of local authorities.

“Of course the high levels of satisfaction among our tenants doesn’t mean we are in any way complacent and the positive feedback we have been given will act as a standard to aim at in coming years.

“In the coming months we will be bringing forward a number of actions to further improve services for tenants and residents in line with the results of the survey.”

The housing committee will convene on Monday to discuss the outcome of the survey, which was administered by Knowledge Partnership Research & Consultancy between March and May this year.
