West Lothian Housing Partnership (WLHP) is investing £1.3 million in improving hundreds of its homes.

More than 290 homes across WLHP’s communities will receive energy efficient boilers; while 230 customers will benefit from modern kitchens.

General environmental improvements are also planned alongside enhanced entrances and common areas to help tenants feel safer.

It is the most significant investment to be made in WLHP’s homes, and comes as a result of its partnership with Wheatley Group.

And when the five-year programme of work is completed every West Lothian Housing Partnership customer will have an affordable heating system to reduce fuel bills.

The work will be carried out by the social landlord in Boghall, Blackburn, Craigshill, West Calder, Bathgate, Broxburn and Stoneyburn.

Tracey Taylor, a WLHP tenant at Boghall in Bathgate, said: “I’ve been a West Lothian Housing Partnership tenant for seven years now and have to say I’m really excited about the investment being put into the houses.

“The planned work is exactly what we need. I’ll be getting a new kitchen and can’t wait for it to be installed. It’ll make a huge difference to me and the rest of the family.”

New WLHP director Rebecca Wilson said: “This investment will ensure all our tenants feel more comfortable in their homes and safer in their neighbourhood. Our focus on energy efficiency will also go some way towards helping them to save money on fuel bills.

“Our plans have been made following close consultation with our customers. We know they want to live in great places, no matter which community they’re part of – and it’s our aim to make West Lothian Housing Partnership communities just that.

“I’m pleased and proud to step into the role of director at West Lothian Housing Partnership at such an exciting time.”
