Woman dies after fire at East Kilbride block of flats

A woman has died after a fire broke out at a block of flats in East Kilbride.
Five fire engines were sent to the scene at Sadlers Wells Court on Thursday night.
The alarm was first raised at around 10.30pm and emergency services worked throughout the night to extinguish the blaze.
The body of a 65-year-old woman was recovered from a property in the block.
Two appliances remain on the scene this morning.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the body of a 65-year-old woman was recovered from the property.
“A post-mortem will take place in due course to establish the cause of the death.
“A joint investigation will be carried out with the SFRS to establish the cause of the fire.”
