Tenants have already moved into the new housing complex, which consists of 25 new council houses with two, three and four-bedroom houses, bungalows and single bedroom flats.

Built on the site of the old Building Services Depot, the new council house development meets all the modern standards for energy-efficiency and passes Police Scotland’s ‘Safe-by-Design’ mark.  

Councillor Judy Hamilton, convener of community and housing services, said: “I’m delighted that all of the houses, gardens and landscaped areas are now complete here at Keir Hardie Wynd and that tenants are enjoying their new homes. 

“The development is now complete, after construction was halted for a time earlier in the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This new housing is very much needed in the Levenmouth Area. The range of house types will provide homes that are safe and warm for all our tenants and provide accessible housing for tenants with disabilities. 

“I would love to welcome tenants; but due to coronavirus, it’s not possible to visit their homes. However, I congratulate the tenants and wish them well in their new homes.”

Cllr Hamilton added: “This development makes huge strides towards our commitment to work in partnership and deliver 3500 new affordable homes by 2022. Of this number 1500 will be new council houses. Working together with the Fife Housing Association Alliance, and developers, we are proud to be building fit for purpose modern houses that will benefit tenants for many years to come.”
