30 reasons to celebrate for WSHA sheltered housing complex
It was cause for celebrations at Denmilne Gardens in Glasgow as the West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) sheltered complex marked its 30th anniversary.
This is a special milestone for the complex which officially opened in April 1987. With 25 homes, Denmilne Gardens has a long-standing sense of community spirit and tenants get actively involved in a number of social activities such as an art group and Music in Motion sessions.
One tenant, Sandra Harris, said: “I have been a tenant for over 3 years now and I love living here. You have so much independence but feel safe at the same time. I am part of the Art group and love going along to it. I am looking forward to being part of the gardening group next year as I would love to grow my own vegetables.”
Lynne Donnelly, chief executive officer at WSHA, added: “This is a fantastic milestone for WSHA and Denmilne Gardens. There is a real sense of community spirit among the tenants and it is reassuring to know that they feel safe and happy in their homes. WSHA have an inherent commitment to responding to tenants needs as their lives change which is partly shown by providing high quality sheltered housing. I wish Denmilne Gardens many more years of success.”
