The month-long exercise, which closed on November 12, drew 2,654 responses.

People were asked to choose ways to make up a £83 million shortfall in the council’s running costs over the next four years, including £35m in 2024/25.

Fifty-two potential service change savings were presented alongside options to increase Council Tax, and fees and charges.

The results will be shared with Full Council on December 13 and will help inform spending plans for future years when the council sets its annual budget around the beginning of March 2024.

Under a new Budget Protocol, the consultation also captured feedback on the potential impacts of savings on people with protected characteristics.

Phase 1 of the consultation – which drew 3,192 responses during July – asked people to prioritise service areas for investment.
