Abertay Housing Association unveils Forfar homes plan
Dundee-based Abertay Housing Association is to embark on its first venture in Angus with the development of affordable homes on a derelict site in Forfar.
Under plans submitted to Angus Council, the near £2 million project will see the creation of 18 flats for older people at New Road.
The land has lain empty since the opening of the adjacent Asda supermarket in late 2011 after the former Angus Council HQ site was bought for development.
Designed by KDM Architects Ltd, the proposals are for four blocks of cottage-style flats.
Derek Black, Abertay’s asset manager, said: “Abertay Housing Association are delighted to be working jointly with Campion Homes on an exciting first development in Angus which will see 16 new energy efficient homes for older people in Forfar. These will allow residents to maintain their independence within the convenience of the town centre.
“The £1.9m investment should be on site in April with the first homes being available later in the year.
“This growth out with Dundee represents a new opportunity for Abertay and we look forward to delivering these quality homes to new tenants.”
