Although a tough line has always been taken on anti-social behaviour, this was the first instance in the Cowal area of the Association applying for and being granted an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).

The Association also served a notice of proceedings for breach of tenancy conditions against the tenant.

The Sheriff at Dunoon court granted an eviction notice and with an interim ASBO against the tenant. The court further granted a full ASBO against the partner who allegedly lived with the tenant. The court also granted expenses against the couple.

Alastair MacGregor, chief executive at ACHA, said: “Evicting tenants is never a step we take lightly and only a handful of our tenants behave in such a manner, but when a tenant makes life so difficult for others, we are given very little alternative. ASBO’s and legal proceedings are very lengthy and complicated and take up a large amount of our employees’ time.

“The fact that we have won this case sends out a clear message to our communities of law abiding citizens who want to live in peace and tranquillity in their ACHA homes that we are on their side.”
