Affordable Kirkhill homes handed over to Albyn Housing Society
Albyn Housing Society has taken handover of a new phase of affordable homes in Kirkhill, delivering fresh progress on its commitment to bring 750 new homes to the Highlands by 2020.
The new development comprises a total of 10 modern homes including eight available for social rent with Albyn Housing Society and two available through the Low Cost Initiative for First Time Buyers (LIFT) scheme.
Representing a total investment of £1.1 million including £680,000 support from the Scottish Government, construction commenced at the site in May 2017 with Fraser & Grant Homes Ltd appointed as developer.
Calum Macaulay, chief executive at Albyn Housing Society, said: “The handover of these new homes will be of great benefit to the Kirkhill community where demand for good quality, affordable housing continues to grow.
“This is largely the case across the Highland region, and as a housing association, Albyn is ambitious to maintain its status as an affordable housing developer of scale. By building good quality, energy efficient homes for rent and for sale in the communities they are needed the most, we are contributing not only to addressing the housing shortage, but the continued sustainability of the region and its distinct communities as a whole.”
