Amazon shoppers urged to buy a gift for Simon Community Scotland
Christmas gifts that might help people who are homeless are being requested by one of Scotland’s leading homelessness charities.
Simon Community Scotland is inviting people who shop via the Amazon website to pick a Christmas gift from a wishlist that can be found online.
A similar exercise last year resulted in over £15,000 worth of goods being donated by kind-hearted members of the public.
Among the items on this year’s wishlist, chosen following consultation with Simon Community Scotland staff, are sleeping bags, underwear and foam mats.
Like last year, this year’s campaign - called 12 Days of Giving - has attracted the support of several celebrities, who have each recorded a 30-second video urging people to support the campaign.
These include Iain de Caestecher, Gina McKie, Kevin Guthrie, Tam Cowan, Moray Hunter and Sanjeev Kohli.
Actors, Gavin Mitchell and Jonathan Watson - along with comedian, Kiri Pritchard-McLean - are to record videos this week.
All completed videos will appear on Simon Community Scotland’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
Lorraine McGrath, chief executive, at Simon Community Scotland, said: “We are asked frequently by members of the public what they can do to help and, in creating this campaign, we wanted to make it easy and impactful for people to get involved. We have gifts for all budgets, and, no matter what people can spare at this time of year, we are incredibly grateful.”
