The first phase of the development that welcomed new tenants, was the 4 wheelchair-accessible bungalows. These properties are specially designed to meet tenant’s current and future needs, allowing them to feel settled and secure in their new homes and have gone some way to addressing the shortage of suitable wheelchair accessible properties in the area.

Mr Halpenny noted that he has been living in unsuitable accommodation for over 5 years, having to sleep in his living room as unable to manage the stairs in his property.

The tenant said: “Being given this new property is absolutely life changing for me and my 2 children. In just 3 weeks since I have moved in, and I have already noticed a massive improvement in both my physical and mental well-being. My children are also much happier. I now feel much more positive about the future and look forward to making memories in my new home.”

Gail Robertson, chief executive of Angus Housing Association, added: “We are delighted that we have been able to build these as it provides an increase in supply of housing suitable for people with disabilities. We are also providing family-sized homes to help alleviate overcrowding and homelessness in a local community that has been dealing with the aftermath of severe flooding last year. Once again it has been a pleasure to work with Scotia who have delivered high-quality homes for our tenants.”
