An Anti-Social Behaviour Order was (ASBO) was granted by Edinburgh Sherriff Court on March 2 against Lewis Williams of Northfield, Tranent, following an application from East Lothian Council.

The terms of the ASBO prevent him from behaving in a way that causes or is likely to cause alarm and distress to others, specifically the residents of Northfield. This includes allowing more than two visitors at any one time; shouting and swearing, or allowing or encouraging anyone else to shout and swear within the property; repeated banging or thumping or allowing anyone else to repeatedly bang or thump within the property; or playing televisions and any other sound making devices excessively loud.

The court was told that Mr Williams had a history of antisocial behaviour within East Lothian and complaints dated back to January 2016. East Lothian Council’s Safer Communities Team worked closely with Police Scotland to compile the dossier of evidence that was presented to the court.

A council spokesperson said: “The council always takes complaints about anti social behaviour very seriously. Mr Williams’ behaviour resulted in a number of complaints being made to both our Safer Communities Team and to Police Scotland. We worked closely with Police Scotland to ensure an effective response to these complaints. We will not hesitate in pursuing legal action in order to ensure that East Lothian residents are not subjected to behaviour that causes them alarm and distress.”
