Applications sought for CVHA’s £10,000 Community Opportunity Fund

Applications sought for CVHA's £10,000 Community Opportunity Fund

Clyde Valley Group (CVG) is welcoming applications after it secured £10,000 from the Lintel Trust to establish the Community Opportunity Fund.

The Fund is aimed at supporting residents, schools, and community groups in North Motherwell. This new initiative offers a unique opportunity for local organisations and individuals to apply for funding to support projects that enhance the local area and create better opportunities for North Motherwell residents.

The fund is open to all residents and groups within the North Motherwell postcode area, and applicants do not need to be tenants of Clyde Valley Housing Association (CVHA) to apply.

Vaila Whittall, senior community development officer at CVHA, shared her enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to launch this fund and provide the people of North Motherwell with the chance to secure funding for projects that will make a tangible impact on their community. This initiative builds on the work started by local resident Lynn McFarlane, as well as the success of the North Fest family fun day, which brought the community together in such a positive way.”

Lynn McFarlane, North Motherwell resident and organiser of North Fest, is excited about the fund: “This is an amazing opportunity for North Motherwell from CVG and it will help the area a lot. I’ve attended various meetings with CVHA over the last year and they have been really supportive of the North Fest group. As a group, we are currently in the process of planning events, including North Fest 2025. We are also cleaning up the North Motherwell area and CVHA have kindly donated tools to help us do this. CVHA’s support has been definitely needed and welcomed.

“This fund will continue to build on the good work that North Fest and CVHA have been doing. I know that all the applications for the fund will be amazing and I cannot wait to see the winning project for the funding.”
