Staff and volunteers at an Inverness charity shop were left stunned after an art haul worth an estimated £2000 was gifted by a local care home.

The generous donation of 37 pictures including framed prints of some of the world’s most famous works of art were donated to Shelter Scotland’s shop in Drummond Street.

John Sinclair, Shelter Scotland area manager, said: “We were simply stunned when these beautiful prints were given to us by Meallmore Lodge. We can’t thank them enough. The prints themselves are lovely, but the frames that some of them are in are estimated to be worth in excess of £100 each.”

Shoppers have already been snapping up the donated prints and art lovers are encouraged to visit the store to see if it has the perfect picture for their home. The prints include the works of Van Gogh, Monet and other artists.

John added: “Anyone who buys one of these will be getting a true bargain and better yet will be able to hang the art in its pride of place knowing that every penny raised through its sale will help badly housed and homeless people in Scotland.”
