Atrium Homes to extend Money Advice Service
Kilmarnock-based social landlord Atrium Homes has extended its Money Advice Service until September 2016 following the receipt of additional funding from the Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB).
The new award for the successful service, which launched in Autumn 2013, builds on a previous SLAB grant in October 2013, bringing the total grant awarded to £220,000 over three years.
The team has so far helped hundreds of tenants access grants, benefits and other financial assistance.
Atrium head of operations Joyce McCroskie said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive further SLAB funding for our project. The Money Advice Service has become an important part of the services we provide and has already assisted many of our more vulnerable and less well off tenants.
“Crucially, the extra grant will allow Atrium’s bespoke money advice team to continue to deliver advice services to our tenants for a further 18 months.”
Atrium chair Jim O’Neill added: “The extended award of grant is fantastic news for Atrium and its tenants. Our free Money Advice Service has helped many people take the important first step to sorting out their financial problems. But there are many more who need this service to help them through the maze of welfare reform and access what they are entitled to. We will be targeting this group in the next 18 months, thanks to SLAB funding.”
