Ayrshire Housing celebrated its fifteenth birthday at its annual general meeting on Wednesday.

The housing association’s first chair Margaret Scott joined current chair Rhonda Leith in cutting a birthday cake to mark the occasion.

Rhonda said: “We’ve grown to be one of Ayrshire’s most successful associations with the funds to tackle new opportunities.

“The big change this year was the end of South Ayrshire Council’s participation in the Board. It has decided to withdraw from membership of many local organisations, not just us. We’ll miss the Councillors’ contributions but we know that the Council very much still values us as their key housing partner.

“I’m delighted to make a presentation to Councillor Ian Cavana, one of their longest serving Board reps.”

Councillor Ian Cavana said: “Ayrshire Housing is one of the best run organisations that I have had the pleasure to be involved in, and there have been many! I know that it continues to be a key partner for the Council in meeting local housing needs.”

Three new members were welcomed to the Board. The Board is made up of six tenants and six community volunteers.

Ayrshire Housing was formed in 2003 through the merger of Carrick Housing Association and South Ayrshire Homes. It now rents over 1,500 houses across Ayrshire.
