Ayrshire Housing holds digital AGM
In another sign of the times, Ayrshire Housing went digital for its Annual General Meeting last Wednesday evening.
The winners of the association’s garden and pet competitions were announced online.
These include the resourceful tenants of Good Shepherd Court, Ayr who continue to green their shared courtyard. A deserving red rosette also went to Lexi the Boston Terrier and his adoring companion Mrs Gibb.
Chair Simon Leslie said: “I’m pleased to report on another very successful year. We’ve continued to receive excellent feedback from our tenants on our services. We’re also building much needed houses for rent. Our development at Peebles Street, Ayr completed last May and our latest development nearby in Elba Street is due to finish shortly.
“This includes 12 flats developed in partnership with the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership. We’ll shortly start work in a few weeks on 52 houses in Troon. We also have a number of other projects at the planning stage across South Ayrshire.
“Despite the challenges of coronavirus, we’ve been able to maintain essential services to our tenants from the beginning of the lockdown. I’m pleased to say that these are now getting closer to normal levels. Our staff have been excellent. Despite working from home they have focused on reassuring our tenants particularly those facing new financial challenges.
“I’m also pleased to say that we have been able to add to our own community fund with a grant from the Scottish Government for emergency projects. This has allowed us to support the work of three local charities helping those threatened with homelessness, suffering social isolation or bereavement.”
