Bancon wins Aberdeen affordable homes contract
Bancon Construction is to build 80 affordable homes for Aberdeen City Council.
Starting later this year, the development at Manor Walk will be due for completion in 2018.
The contract is one of many in the public and private sectors secured by the construction division of the Aberdeenshire-based Bancon Group.
Work has already started on the construction of a new hangar and reception centre for GAMA Aviation at Aberdeen Airport, expected to finish next April. The development of a new restaurant area in the former E&M’s building on Aberdeen’s Union Street will get underway shortly on behalf of First Construction.
The building of a new car showroom for a private sector car dealer has also commenced recently.
Gavin Currie, managing director of Bancon Construction, said: “These contracts, all competitively tendered, signal confidence in the local market but also in Bancon’s ability to deliver diverse and prestigious projects. We are achieving our aim of being recognised as a major force in construction with the capability and the capacity to take on a range of construction contracts. With our strengthened team and these wins under our belt, we are well on-track to meeting our growth plans for the next five years.”
Bancon Construction, based at Burnett House, Banchory, has a turnover of £60 million and 180 employees.
