Barratt Developments welcomes local MP to new Dundee homes at former Keiller’s factory
Barratt Developments North Scotland has welcomed Chris Law, MP for Dundee Central, to its Keiller’s Rise site last month to showcase the transformation of the former Keiller Marmalade production plant.
The factory site, which was left derelict in the mid-1990s, has seen Barratt Homes transform the brownfield land into 223 units of high-quality housing to help meet the demand for high quality new homes in the area.
Taking place on Wednesday 28 August, the housebuilder, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, invited Mr Law to take a tour of the site and see first-hand how the development’s new build homes will benefit the Dundee community, with 45 couples and families having already moved in since the site was launched in December 2022.
During the visit, Mr Law met with Chris Ross, development director at Barratt Developments North Scotland, construction director Kevin Urquhart, contracts manager Dave Oliver, and site manager Scott Reekie, all of whom have been integral to the planning and delivery of homes on the development.
Mr Ross said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Law to Keiller’s Rise, in what was an enjoyable and highly useful visit.
“This was an excellent opportunity to showcase how we’ve transformed the brownfield land into a sustainable and welcoming community of high-quality energy-efficient homes, and to discuss the successes and challenges that have come with breathing life back into the site.
“We look forward to continued collaboration and dialogue with Mr Law and other stakeholders to ensure the success of our developments in the Dundee area and beyond.”
Mr Law added: “It was fantastic to see the transformation of the historic Keiller’s marmalade factory site into a vibrant community of much-needed, high quality-homes.
“It’s encouraging to witness the progress made by Barratt Developments in creating a sustainable and welcoming environment that will benefit both current and future residents of Dundee.”
