Barrhead Housing Association held its 29th Annual General Meeting this week at the Barrhead Foundry.

Members and invited guests heard what progress the organisation had made over the last year around growth, performance and financial management.

A further healthy surplus was reported along with an increase in the organisations cash position.

Shirley Robison, chief executive at Barrhead, presented a review of the last ten years to confirm the strengthening financial position, growth of the Association and improved services to tenants for the organisation over recent years.

Early results from the Social Housing Charter for 2014/15 were also confirmed against Scottish average figures ahead of the publication of the Association’s Performance Report, due out in October 2015.

The AGM included the election of governing board members including two with over nine years’ service, and members approved a new external auditor.

The Association’s good neighbour award went to Mr and Mrs Sweeney of Barrhead while Mrs Boyle of Neilston was awarded the prize in the overall garden competition. There were runner up winners for good neighbour to Mr Forbes of Barrhead and for the garden competition winner including Mr Dunwoodie, Mr McCowan, and Mrs Sweeney of Barrhead and to Miss Bogan of Neilston. Eleven other local residents received vouchers to make improvements to their gardens for next year.

The Association will mark its 30th anniversary during 2016.
