Barrhead Housing Association secures National Lottery Funding
Barrhead Housing Association (BHA) has received a £99,985 award from The National Lottery Community Fund to take the popular DIY Dunterlie model forward and expand into Auchenback and continue in Dunterlie.
Brighter Futures Barrhead will launch in Autumn 2020 and the project will support families on low incomes to manage their finances appropriately, enabling them to make their resources go further and are accessing all financial entitlements they are eligible for.
The project also aims to reduce food insecurites, support families, parents and children in the local area and reduce household spend of families who are on low incomes.
The BHA Community Fund will be run using participatory budgeting.
Shirley Robison, Barrhead Housing Association CEO, said: “The ‘Brighter Future Barrhead’ project will tackle poverty and inequality for local families through a co-ordinated partner and community volunteer approach, with BHA as the lead delivery and managing partner.
“This project will allow us to further develop our successful community regeneration programmes across the Barrhead area and allow us to continue to support our tenants and the wider community as a community anchor organisation.”
The National Lottery Community Fund, Scotland director, Neil Ritch, said: “In these uncertain times our priority is to ensure that National Lottery money continues to flow to charities, voluntary sector organisations and grassroots groups.
“I would like to congratulate Barrhead Housing Association on their award, theirs is an important project which and will support people now and in the future when they can physically come back together to make great things happen in their community.”
