It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Broomhill
River Clyde Homes hosted a Christmas lunch for Broomhill customers on last week at the Broomhill Community Hub to help integrate the area’s new residents.
Residents enjoyed some food and a natter with neighbours. Prizes were won in a raffle including a Marks and Spencer Christmas Hamper worth £70. The purpose of this event was to bring old and new customers together to create a sustainable community (62% of all lets in Broomhill are to new customers) and to encourage the use of the recently opened Broomhill Community Hub. There were over 30 selection boxes left over and these were donated to the local foodbank.
As well as this, River Clyde Homes also hosted a free after school Christmas crafts session for local children, again in the new Community Hub. It was led by the housing association’s award winning partners RigArts. The aim was to encourage young members of the community to use the excellent new facilities and to provide them with an opportunity to make gifts for family members. The association is committed to giving children the best start in life. The Bell Group also helped with the decorating of homemade cupcakes.
Broomhill community development officer, Katrine Hoey, said: “Both events were made possible through the proactive partnership of River Clyde Homes, partners and contractors with the intention of spreading Christmas cheer across the local area, which is undergoing a significant £26 million regeneration. We want to say a huge thank you to The Wise Group, iHeat, The Bell Group, Clyde Design Partnership LTD, HWEnergy, AHR and MAST Architects for their generosity and not forgetting the efforts from staff at the Broomhill Community Hub who provided a wonderful venue and catering.”
